Affiliate Disclosure

ToolFern is free to use and stays that way primarily through advertising. This page explains how affiliate links work on the rare occasions we use them, in keeping with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), which require a clear, upfront disclosure of any financial relationship behind a product recommendation.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link to a product or service that, if you click it and then make a purchase or sign up, may earn ToolFern a small commission from the seller, at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is identical whether you go through our link or find the product yourself; the commission comes out of the seller's marketing budget, not your wallet.

Where you might see one

Most of ToolFern's pages, the tools themselves, carry no affiliate links at all; they're pure utility pages. Where an affiliate link does appear, most likely in a guide or article recommending a specific product related to the topic (for example, a solar-calculator guide mentioning a specific battery brand), it will be a link to a product or service directly relevant to what you're reading, and the surrounding text or a nearby note will make clear that it's a paid/affiliate link, placed before or right at the link itself, not buried in fine print at the bottom of the page.

Our promise

We only link to products or services we genuinely think are useful for what you're doing on the page. A potential commission never changes what gets recommended, and it never affects whether or how any free tool works, every tool on this site works identically for a visitor who never clicks an ad or affiliate link.

Advertising

Separately from affiliate links, we display advertising through networks such as Google AdSense, Monetag and Adsterra to help fund the free tools. These are standard display/interstitial ads, not endorsements of any specific product, we don't choose which individual ads appear. How these networks use cookies and other data is explained in full in our Privacy Policy.
