Terms of Use
Last updated: 30 July 2026
Welcome to ToolFern. These Terms of Use are a plain-language agreement between you and ToolFern (operated by Muhammad Mutaher) governing your use of https://toolfern.com and every tool on it. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who can use ToolFern
ToolFern is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. If you're under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (commonly 13, and up to 16 in parts of the EEA), please only use the site with a parent or guardian's involvement, as described in our Privacy Policy.
The service we provide
ToolFern provides free, browser-based tools, image converters and editors, PDF utilities, finance and paycheck calculators, solar and energy sizing tools, text utilities, generators and small developer utilities, made available "as is" for personal and lawful business use, at no cost and without requiring an account. We may add, change, or discontinue individual tools at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use any tool to process content you don't have the legal right to use, copy or modify;
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or degrade the site through automated scraping, denial-of-service attempts, or excessive automated requests;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the site beyond what your browser naturally exposes, for malicious purposes;
- Circumvent, block, or interfere with the advertising that keeps ToolFern free, including through means other than a standard, general-purpose ad blocker running in your own browser;
- Use the site to violate any applicable law, or to build a directly competing service by systematically copying our tools, content, or calculator methodology.
We reserve the right to restrict or block access for anyone who violates these terms.
The finance, tax and payroll calculators are estimates, not advice
ToolFern's paycheck, tax, mortgage, loan, retirement and similar finance calculators are built for quick, informational estimates using published formulas and current-year figures (for example, the US federal tax brackets and FICA limits for the applicable tax year). They are not tax, legal, financial, investment or accounting advice, and they don't account for every individual circumstance, state-specific rule, or recent change in law. They are maintained by one person, not a licensed CPA, enrolled agent, or financial advisor. Always confirm important financial or tax decisions with a qualified professional or the relevant government agency (such as the IRS) before relying on them. The same "estimate, not advice" principle applies to the solar and energy sizing tools relative to a licensed electrician or solar installer.
No warranty
The tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. While we test and maintain every tool, we don't guarantee they'll be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate in every case. Always keep a backup of important files before processing them with any online tool, ours included.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToolFern and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, files, or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its tools, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to fifty US dollars ($50), since the service is provided free of charge.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold ToolFern and its operator harmless from any claim, demand, or liability, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the site.
Intellectual property
The ToolFern name, logo, site design, and original written content are owned by us. The files, text, and data you process through our tools remain entirely yours; we claim no ownership or license over them, and (per our Privacy Policy) we typically never receive them in the first place since processing happens in your browser. Several tools rely on open-source libraries, which remain the property of their respective authors under their own licenses. You may not copy, redistribute or resell ToolFern's own content, design, or underlying tool logic without permission.
Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on ToolFern infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: (1) a description of the copyrighted work, (2) the specific URL where the allegedly infringing material appears, (3) your contact information, and (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We'll review and respond to legitimate notices promptly.
Third-party links and advertising
The site displays advertisements and may contain links to third-party websites, including occasional affiliate links. We don't control and aren't responsible for the content, products, availability, or privacy practices of any third-party site we link to or advertise. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how affiliate links work and our Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.
Termination
Since the site doesn't use accounts, "termination" in practice means we may block or restrict access from a specific device, IP address, or network for violating these terms, at our discretion.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent applicable to a free, no-account website of this kind. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
